Captain Ram Singh Thakur Vikas Samiti Khanyara

Captain Ram Singh Thakuri was an illustrious figure in Indian history. Born on 15 August 1914 in Khanyara, Dharamsala, he was not only an Indian freedom fighter but also a talented musician and composer. He is credited with composing patriotic songs like “Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja” and “Subh Sukh Chain” during his service in the Indian National Army (INA). His dedication to the cause of India’s freedom was evident when he played the National Anthem of the INA in the presence of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi. Despite his significant contributions, Captain Singh faced challenges in his later years, including controversies surrounding his status as a freedom fighter. He passed away on 15 April 2002 but left behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Master Mitrasen Sahitya Sangeet Sabha Bhagsu (Dharamshala

Master Mitrasen Thapa, born on 29th December 1895 in Village Totarani, Bhagsu/Dharamshala, was a revered figure in the Nepali community. Fondly referred to as “Master” due to the societal norm of addressing writers and musicians as such, he made significant contributions to the Nepali language and culture. His works, which encompassed humor, drama, singing, and dance, resonated with the masses, uniting Nepalis from various regions. Master Mitrasen’s legacy is preserved at his residence ‘Mitra Jhupro’ in Totarani, Dharamshala/Bhagsu, which has been transformed into a museum. This museum, dedicated to his life and works, houses his writings, costumes, stage jewelry, harmonium, medals, and other personal belongings.

Shaheed Maj Durga Mall Capt Dal Bahadur Samriti Manch Dari

Shaheed Major Durga Mall was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement and a major in the Indian National Army (INA). Born on 1 July 1913 in Dehradun, he was the first Gorkha soldier among the Indian Gorkhas in the INA to sacrifice his life for Indian independence. Malla was captured in Kohima in 1944 and was sentenced to death by hanging. His unwavering patriotism and dedication to the cause of freedom are remembered and celebrated by many.

Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh Branch Himachal

The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) is a non-government national-level organization representing the Gorkhas (Nepali ethnic group) of India. Established in 2001, the BGP has its headquarters in Siliguri, West Bengal, and has unit offices across various regions of India, including Himachal Pradesh. The organization is dedicated to the vision of a recognized and dignified Gorkha society in India, enjoying rights and privileges enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The BGP has both institutional and individual memberships, encompassing cultural, literary, and social organizations, as well as individual members from various professions.

The Bhagsu Pahal Society, nestled in the serene surroundings of Dari in Dharamshala, is a beacon of hope and opportunity for many. Dedicated to empowering individuals, this society offers a range of Vocational Training Programs.
